| Impact, special achievements & commitments | | | Outspan is a privately owned company incorporated under the Companies Act of the laws of Uganda in 1977 by senior directors who had worked in different organizations. In 1999, Outspan Enterprises Limited, now known as Outspan Agric Exports Limited ventured into the production and export of Organic Agricultural Products. Initially, the project started with the export of Organic Cotton and later expanded to include sesame seed and birds eye chillies. The project is located in the Northern districts of Kaberamaido and Amolatar. Outspan introduced a new variety – Sesame II – which gave a better yield and had higher oil content and has been a big success for all participating farmers. Outspan exports agricultural commodities such as cocoa beans, chillies, ginger, crude sunflower oil and sesame seed to Europe, Asia and East Africa and trades locally in sheanut, sunflower, maize and beans. Outspan has also supplied World food programme, Uganda grain traders, Uganda prisons and other COMESA states with Maize and Beans in the past. |
