Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsCastle Rock Water Company seeks to demonstrate that all natural resources belong to the people and if a company takes out the natural recourses like gold, gas, oil, copper or water and uses them for commercial purposes it should pay a fair price back to the community. In this case, the water belongs to the community of Dunsmuir, one of the poorer ones in the state of California. They used a building which was dilapidated and not used for many years and fixed it and rented it back from the city and they also pay a fair price for the water back to the community. Since they started 3 years ago, they contributed over a 1/2 mil $ to the city of Dunsmuir. This makes a huge contribution for the city of 2500 people. It is their sincerest wish that all natural resource companys follow their example of giving back to the community more then just hiring people.
Use of Fair Trade PremiumThe city of Dunsmuir uses the plant's rent and the "premium" on the water to pay for upkeep of city buildings and grounds (including parks), and for replacement of old city water lines.
