Created in 2004, the Toussiana Karité Comestible et Cosmetiques Company aims to fight poverty, particularly women poverty, through environmentally friendly income-generating activities. It is in this context that it is interested in the valorization of the shea sector where most of the actors are women. The establishment of a processing unit in Toussiana has created around 30 jobs, of which 95% are women from very poor families. It is a company with a strong social and environmental ambition. As proof, it has been organic and fair trade certified since 2008. To ensure its autonomy, SOTOKACC has set up its own network of raw material suppliers. Gradually, this group of collectors of fresh nuts shea grows and consolidates in the FFL principles. It was supported by SOTOKACC to be structured as a more autonomous source in May 2017 called Sustainable Vision Association. It has more than 1000 women from communities near the collection sites. This organization is very active in the field of protection and restoration of natural resources such as protected forests. Nevertheless, SOTOKACC continues to collect organic and fair trade kernels from the SOTOKACC production group. At this level also, it provides technical support and monitoring for compliance with FFL and organic standards. In the SOTOKACC collector network, fresh nuts are bought by company teams and processed properly. According to the results of the microbiological analyzes, these nuts would give a butter of better quality. The premium butter, highly prized by customers, is also produced from these almonds. In addition to this network, other raw material suppliers such as UNPCB and FENABE (Mali) supply organic and FFL (or equivalent)shea almonds to SOTOKACC.
